Dear Dysfunctional,
If you look around, you'll notice that people tend not to read anymore. Kinda sad, isnt it? I mean, can you imagine how much people miss in priceless memories and sophisticated references to the classics? And all the great books that you can immerse yourself in, and get so much more out of it than a two hour movie...(not to bash movies, I love those too)That and people seem to lose their ability to absorb a storyline, and find themselves tethered to one page articles or two minute youtube clips. Social media and mass media has reduced mankind to the point where their opinions can be swayed by a concise, often illogical and partially false emotional appeal; providing of course that it is delivered by individuals specifically chosen to look attractive and still appear to carry a certain amount of gravity at the same time. The reality is that these arguments are written by a group of young journalism majors, and presented by people who are probably fairly ignorant of the subject they're presenting, and, as rumor has it, may not even be wearing pants. The most ironic part of this whole ritual is that it is foisted upon the public under a standard blazoned with the ideals of free thought... When in reality, it is the same old mass propaganda that has been around since: well, since forever, and its here to stay. So essentially, we can rant about it all we want, but I'm not going to change anything, so I'm done.
Thanks for tuning in,
Giles Vermouth
