Boredom; The Real Reason You're Reading This

Dear Dysfunctional,
Boredom. That word strikes fear into the hearts of many of us, filling us with unwelcome memories of hours spent in dentists offices, at school, for some, even at grandparnts houses, no matter how much we may love them. Boredom is not a new phenomenon. In fact, I'm sure that if boredom were more interesting, we would have documentation of it dating back to the ancient Egyptians. However, nobody, other than your best friend calling you, really want to talk about boredom. So, it remains as an undercurrent in modern society; a prominent, yet unrecognized, motive. Ironically, therapists, or me at least, have ascertained that the source of boredom is prolonged exposure to entertainment. Oftentimes, victims may not realize that they are bored until it is too late. Recognition generally occurs when they have just finished watching every episode of their favorite TV show... Twice. Boredom also manifests itself in excessive eating, watching Bob The Builder with your brother, or when you find that your Facebook feed is too slow for your liking. As of now, there is only one permanent solution, at least according to such authoritative individuals such as your parents: work. Constant work will cure any boredom. Well, I'm not that desperate yet.
Farewell,
Limander Hodges
